Camp 2018 Deep Cove

This term my class was lucky enough to go to Deep Cove for their school camp. As part of my role here at Longford, I had to organise the budget, and all activities, programmes and transport for the different classes. This is something I have done before, but not to the same extent.

I learnt quite a bit about organising stuff. These are my take homes:
* Don't rely on other teachers to follow a programme correctly
* Don't leave stuff to the last minute
* Everything that is shared with other staff also needs to be written down...
* Don't sweat the small stuff!

It was really good taking my class in to Deep Cove. I was impressed with how they all worked together and how they integrated Room 20 into the mix also. It was nice to hear all the positive comments from other adults on our camp, and on the cruise how well behaved and awesome my class was. I was very proud of them! It has been good coming back to class after getting to know each other better, my class seems more cohesive and ready to work hard to the next 2 terms!

While in Deep Cove we covered a number of science based curriculum, including Biology and Geography. Students learnt about regeneration and the Flora and fauna and we also looked at marine biology, in particular plankton under the microscope and the 40 meter fresh water band. I have been excited to see how much the students have retained.
